Toothpaste is a paste used for cleaning the |teeth|. No one toothpaste is better than any other for plaque-removing ability. Most toothpastes today have added fluoride, which reduces tooth decay. Look for the American Dental Association (ADA) seal. The evidence is still out as to whether "tartar-control" toothpastes are of any benefit, as they may only work above the gum line with no affect on tartar formation below the gum line. Special desensitizing toothpastes are available for use. If a tooth or |teeth| become sensitive to heat and cold check with your dentist. Some people experience chronic hypersensitivity with no underlying cause. Four or five brands of desensitizing toothpaste are available with the ADA seal.
